                                                Gecko

W hat’s that looking at you from the ceiling? Is it a gecko?

Many geckos come out to hunt for insects after the sun
goes down. Pads on their feet give incredible grip. Millions of tiny hairs

on the pads cling to almost any surface, so geckos can scoot up
slippery glass or shiny metal easily. They can even run across a ceiling

upside down. Scientists study gecko feet to create new materials,
such as a super-sticky fabric that lets people climb up walls!

Most geckos are colorful, but some have patterns just like tree bark to
help them hide. They croak and chirp through the night. The tokay

gecko cries “To–kay!,” which is how it got its name.
