Mother slow lorises lick venomous spit onto their

babies to keep them safe. No one will touch them now.

E normous eyes give you a clue to how the slow loris lives.

Like an owl, it needs them to see in the dark. As night falls,
it goes off to explore. The loris is a very slow animal. It takes its time

with every move it makes. This helps it save energy. Being slow does
not mean the loris is weak, though. A bite from a loris can give

you a rash and burn your skin. It makes an oil near its elbows,
which, when mixed with spit, creates venom.

Sadly, many slow lorises are caught to be sold as pets. However,
though they look cute, they don’t make good companions. The

best place for lorises is the rain forest.
