Cheetah
C heetahs are built for speed. Their light skeleton saves weight,
their leg muscles are huge, and their claws grip the ground
like the spikes on football cleats. All this gives cheetahs a top speed
of 70 mph (113 kph). On most roads, they would break the
speed limit!
When cheetahs chase prey, they soon get hot and tired.
If they have not caught up after a minute, they give up.
Young male cheetahs often hunt together. Long grass
makes it hard to see one another, so they keep in touch
with barks and birdlike chirps. They share their meat,
rub heads, and lick each other to stay friends.
