OURWILD WORLD
1 1 Surprise encounter
I placed a remote
camera near this dried-up
watering hole in Kenya.
I could never have
imagined the two locusts
to be within the frame,nor
that the two plains zebras
would start fighting just a
few yards from my lens!
James Lewin,
Newbury, UK
2 Caught in the act
I was roaming around my
garden when I spotted
this ant-mimicking
jumping spider. It was
precious to be in a
position to capture the
5 exact moment it was
preying on a mosquito.
Arindam Saha,
Kolkata, India
3 Dinner for one
I took this photograph
at Ranthambhore
National Park.The tiger
had killed the deer the
previous day and was
2 protectively guarding
it when we arrived.
3 Shankar MS,
Bangalore, India
4 Prickly guest
Last summer, our
resident hedgehog would
regularly slip under the
fence into the cooler
frontyard, so one day
I lay on the ground
waiting for her to emerge.

Leersum, the Netherlands

5 Helping hand
These two baby fan-
throated lizards (Sitana
ponticeriana) were
playing together when
one fell to the ground
and the other reached
out to save its life.

Maharashta, India
