        1ST/2ND CURTAIN SYNC

Flash can be set to fire either at the start of a
slow sync flash exposure—1st (front) curtain
sync—or at the end—2nd (rear) curtain sync.
The difference is usually insignificant and
generally it is safe to leave the shutter sync
set to either option. The exception is when
your flash-lit subject moves across the scene
during the exposure. If you select 1st curtain
sync, the movement of the subject will create
a blur in front of it. If you switch to 2nd curtain
sync, the blur of the subject’s movement will
        be recorded behind it.

        THE RESULT CAMERA SETTINGS
The final shot has balanced the flash exposure and the natural light. ISO
To make the background lighter, a longer shutter speed could have A f/5 1/100 800
been used by applying exposure compensation (see p.54). SEC
