CHOOSE A FOCUS POINT
Select Single point AF. Use the camera’s
control pad to move the AF point to the area
of the scene that you want to focus on.
FOCUS PRECISELY
Because depth of field is limited, you need to
focus precisely on the spot you want to be sharpest
(see p.82). Press the button fully to take the shot.
THE RESULT
Using selective focus here has minimized the
distracting clutter of the woodworker’s bench,
helping to draw the eye toward the graceful
curves of the violin’s scroll.
SHOOT AND REVIEW
Zoom into the photo in playback mode to CAMERA SETTINGS
double-check that your focusing was accurate. If
it was not, reshoot and check the photo again. Av f/2.8 1/160 ISO AW B
If the focusing is consistently inaccurate, you SEC 200
may need to calibrate your lens (see p.81).
