Enthusiasts’ UK Route Guide

Editor Dino Carrara, Ashley French and Martin Davidson list the most
interesting passenger airline routes to the UK from an enthusiast’s perspective.
We had various criteria, including aircraft types rarely seen in the UK or a

carrier that might, for example, only fly into one or just a few British airports.

The Sunday rotation of WF398/9 from Bergen is timetabled to be an E190-E2, though that type may also replace the Dash 8-Q400 on other days.
Birmingham Airport (BHX/EGBB)

Turkmenistan restarted operations to Birmingham on December 13, 2019, its first route back to the UK having been prevented from flying into Europe by the EU. Prior
to this it had operated to Birmingham twice a week using Boeing 757-200s. The airline also previously served Heathrow before the ban. Frankfurt is now the carrier’s
only other European destination.

Edinburgh Airport (EDI/EGPH)
Atlantic Airways A319/A320 Mon/Thu 1350/1440 (Mon) 1645/1735 (Thu) RC414/415 Vàgar
Atlantic Airways’ only UK route operates year-round, twice weekly to Edinburgh. The Monday rotation is flown by an A320 and the Thursday service by the A319. The route
started on March 30, 2015 and is one of a small number of destinations within Europe currently served with scheduled flights by Atlantic Airways from the Faroe Islands.
Glasgow Airport (GLA/EGPF)
Air Transat A310 Sat 0950/1120 TS724/725 Toronto
Air Transat is the last remaining operator to use A310s on passenger flights to the UK, also serving Manchester with the type.
Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LPL/EGGP)
Widerøe Dash 8-Q400 Mon/Fri 1150/1215 WF380/381 Bergen
This service started due to the demand from Norwegian-based Liverpool FC football supporters and occasionally is upgraded to an E190-E2 when demand requires.

London City Airport (LCY/EGLC)

Air Antwerp launched flights into London City on September 9, 2019 and uses its sole leased Fokker 50. It is the only carrier to fly a service to the UK with the type.
