This is the busiest part of Lisbon,
especially the central squares of Rossio
after the earthquake of 1755, the area
was one of Europe’s first examples of
town planning. Stroll the wide streets
to admire the large Neo-Classical
buildings, before absorbing more
of the atmosphere and surroundings
from one of the bustling pavement
cafés. Nearby Rua das Portas de
Santo Antão, a pedestrianized
R U A DA S P O R TA S D E S A N T O A N TÃ O
street where restaurants display
tanks of live lobsters, allows for START
a more leisurely pace.
