Traineeships

Traineeships are part of the Australian Apprenticeships program. Traineeships are the best way to combine training and
employment and can be full-time, part-time or school-based. Traineeships can lead to a nationally recognised qualification
and are available to anyone of working age and do not require any entry qualifications. You can be re-entering the work-
force, a school-leaver or simply wishing to change careers.

Traineeships and Apprenticeships are available in a variety of certificate levels in more than 500 occupations across
Australia, in traditional trades, as well as a diverse range of emerging careers in most sectors of business and industry.
Research has found that training provides a positive return on investment and helps businesses in the areas of productiv-
ity, worker motivation and retention.

As an approved training provider, SkillsLink Training can provide training and assessment in a range of qualifications.

eligible.

What is involved?

Traineeships are about partnerships. These partnerships will be between the Trainee, the Employer, a Registered Training Organisa-
tion (RTO) like SkillsLink Training and an Australian Apprenticeship Centre (AAC). SkillsLink Training would tailor a training plan for the
trainee and monitor the delivery and the trainees progress with the workplace supervisor, who is appointed by the employer. The AAC
is there to advise the employer on any matters regarding staff eligibility and available business incentives/funding as well as advise on
contractual obligations surrounding traineeships.

Facilitated E-Learning Traineeships

Trainees access their training material and activities on line and receive support directly from their trainer, through individual email,
phone calls, workplace visits and discussion forums. This mode of delivery may also give trainees the opportunity to network with other
trainees in their industry.

Distance Learning & Workplace-Based Traineeships

Trainees receive hard copies of learner guides and their main contact with the trainer is through regular individual workplace visits

This training is subsidised by the NSW Government
