               Abstract

This social return on investment (SROI) assessment is to evaluate SROI of the project

on innovation diffusion of natural dyes to Mae Ing Shibori tie-dye group. The investment is

amounting to 482,150 Thai Baht. The value of the outcomes is amounting to 983,983 Thai

Baht. After deducting the group’s revenue without the project amounting to 30,000 Thai Baht,

the net value of outcomes for the period 11 months from July 1, 2020 to May 31, 2021 is

471,833 Thai Baht. In other words, the project has SROI of 1.68 times. 27% and 58% of the
investment came from the parties who have derived benefits from the project and the fund

provider, respectively. 47 percent and 24 percent of non-financial outcomes belong to the

parties who have derived benefits from the project and persons/related parties, respectively.

The parties who have derived benefits from the project have gain knowledge and learned

innovation of tie-dye and natural dyes. The persons/related parties are beneficial from this

project by gaining good reputation among communities and by strengthening good

relationships between them and communities. 30 percent and 70 percent of financial

outcomes belong to the main operators of the project and the parties who have derived

benefits from the project, respectively. Researchers, who the main operators of the project,
can develop the new research project which will help the group develop its products in the

future. For the parties who have derived benefits from the project, their benefits are in terms

of the employments, raw material supply and the group’s sales of new of products in the

future. For non-financial performance measurement, 43 percent and 24 percent are in forms

of social/relationship indicators and skills/innovation indicators, respectively. For financial

performance measurement, 30 percent and 68 percent are in forms of skills/innovation

indicators and economic/financial indicators, respectively. As the assessment was done for
evaluating the project with running for the short period of time, the changes and SROI may

remain unclear. However, SROI in the future may improve because the group has had new

products and can produce high value products.
