Maria Do Sameiro Barroso
Maria Do Sameiro Barroso, born in Braga (Portugal), is a
Medical Doctor, a multilingual poet, Germanist, translator,
essayist and researcher in the areas of Portuguese and German
Literature, Translation Studies and Medical History. She is
Portuguese Delegate of World Nations Writers' Union,
based in Kazakhstan and editor-in-chief of the literature and
art almanac newspaper 'Galamshar adebieti - Global litera',
Portuguese Cultural Delegate of the Benidorm Poetic
Lyceum and Honorary Member of the Mozambican Writers
Circle in Diaspora; Vice-President of the Pen Club
Português (2012-2014). Her poems are featured in over a
hundred national and foreign literary magazines and
anthologies, published in over twenty languages, resulting
from her international activity and participation in poetry
festivals. She translated outstanding authors like Emanuel
Schickaneder's libretto of Mozart's Magic Flute, Friedrich
Schiller, Rainer Maria Rilke, Paul Celan and
contemporaneous poets like Lio Xiaobo, Yang Lian, Milutin
uri kov, Jeton Kelmendi, Antonio Ramirez Almanza and
Ricardo Rubio among others. She is editor of the magazine
"Espaço do Ser - Poesia, Tradução, Ensaio", collaborator of
the Spanish Digital Literary Magazine "Jaula Azul" and
"Poem of the Week", organized by Germain Drogenbroodt,
Point Editions. Her poetry books are published in several
countries. She has been awarded numerous prizes and literary
distinctions, the last being International Prize Pray of
Mother Teresa, Gjakovë, Kosovo (2019); Prix du Concours
International de poésie de l'Académie Européene des
Sciences, des Arts et des Lettres (AESAL) 2020; Temirqazyq-
the Best Poet- Writer of the World 2019-II Level; World
Nations Writers Union; Prize Grai Romãnesc World
Literary Academy-2020; Order of Shakespeare Medal
