Basudev Mallik
Basudev Mallik, who hails from the Temple City of
Bhubaneswar, Odisha, has spent his entire career as a
journalist, mostly in the department of editing. He took
interest in writing poetry since his school days in both
languages — Odia as well as English. Mallik stands strongly
against the misconception of poetry being beyond the ambit
of editing, as pleaded by many today, their plea being —
Poetry is “spontaneous overflow of emotions”. Good poetry,
edited or unedited, stands out in form and quality. Mallik
has scripted over a thousand poems, carving time out of his
busy schedule, many of which have been published in
various magazines, periodicals, national and international
anthologies. He is currently senior editor at the Odia Virtual
Academy of the state government, taking care of rare books,
scriptures and films being uploaded to the Academy website.
