“Valhalla 4; that’s in the Proxima region; yes it would be possible for a direct link through, I think I
see where you’re coming from. We would still have data even if the pilot became unconscious, those
monitors record all data, neurological, biological and physiological so yes;’ I’ll set that up. There’s a
military cruiser that might be able to get that equipment out here I believe you know the
Commander Lennie – The ship is The Bastion!” Hart replied. Lennie had been fitted with facial
response mechanisms and he smiled
“Yes I do; and he owes me for a favour from when I got them out of a Gravimetric Occlusion Trap,
left behind by the Gantrax, a few years ago. He’d be more than interested in helping us as the
Military possibilities of our work could even help them.” He made a close approximation of a
Flutvarn gurgle and had the others laughing.

On Keteria the Archivists had managed to translate some of the message that The Hellion
had sent. They were working through the details of how
to contact the “Hive-Net” when a report from the Venusi
Mechia, a factory ship, came in about a strange
discovery on the Ice moon of Venetia. A research team
had discovered an artefact in an ice layer about twenty
kilometres from the surface in the equatorial region. The
object appeared to be some sort of ceremonial staff
about sixty centimetres long and about eight
centimetres wide, with a sunburst image on one side of
a disc at one end of the staff. Hieroglyphs on the lower
half of the shaft seemed to relate to those on the star
map scroll found in the ceramic bottle. Upon closer
examination; the end of the staff with the hieroglyphs
looked like it unscrewed to reveal a hidden hollow
chamber. Not known at the time; inside was a crystal rod
about twenty centimetres in length and twelve
millimetres in diameter. Notches and ridges could be
seen at one end of the rod. It would not be known at the
time, but these glyphs and the rod would prove to be
the key to unlocking the identity of the mysterious race

who had built Atlantis so long ago. Clues to a race that predated many of the early civilisations in the
galaxy; even the Krall and the Ulahri, but for now it was decided that the Keterians should confine
and concentrate their efforts to respond to the message in some way. From what they had deduced
so far; they were sent the message as a guide to re-establishing contact with the galaxy outside the
barrier. From the history files the Keterians learned how much the galaxy had changed since their
entrapment. They could not at that time foresee physical contact being possible; they would soon be
proved wrong. The culture shock alone would send ripples through their society, shaking it to its very
foundations. At the time the Luna Mechia expedition vanished into The Veil; contact with Alien races
had been with only a few races, the Flutvarn, the Grexel, the Rexorian, the Delevan and the
Velecasians. Many more races had been encountered since then, many of which had somehow
“interbred” with Humans. The Keterians society rules would need a huge overhaul if they were to
reintegrate into the galactic community. They were rapidly realising how isolated they had actually
been.

The Hellion Marchioness had been docked with the derelict by a tether tunnel to a port on
the side. The Away Team, Hendrickson, a coms Tech called Bryce, engineering ensign Halvers, two
techs and a Mechanoid called 5724 Glock had entered the wreck. It became apparent very quickly
that the damage at first thought to have been due to a battle, was in fact due to distortion effects
from Warp Field interaction with some kind of external force that had sent shockwaves throughout
the vessels exterior hull.
