OBJECTIVE:
To impart knowledge on various water treatment techniques
UNIT I AOP PROCESS I 12
Advanced oxidation process – introduction – mechanism- photo oxidation reactions – photocatalytic
reactions, photo initiated oxidation – UV- H 2O 2 / ozonation, fenton / photofenton – photocatalysis –
light source choice – used in AOPs and their spectral distributions.
UNIT II AOP PROCESS II 12
HOMOGENOUS AOPs- Ozone, electro-chemical oxidation, ultrasonication, UV – Photolysis,
Hydrogen Peroxide and Ultraviolet Radiation (H 2O 2/UV), chemical and non-chemical AOPs,
advantages and disadvantages of homogeneous processes.
UNIT III MEMBRANE BIOREACTORS 12
MEMBRANE BIOREACTORS Introduction and Historical Perspective of MBRs, Biotreatment
Fundamentals, Biomass Separation MBR Principles, Fouling and Fouling Control, Commercial
Technologies, Case Studies
UNIT IV NATURAL COAGULATION 9
NATURAL COAGULANTS – applications – batch coagulation test – turbidity removal – dye removal
– mechanism – survey – scale up, cost analysis and design.
TOTAL : 45 PERIODS
OUTCOME:
On completing this course, the students will be able to understand the latest advances in techniques
various physical processes involved in waste treatment, construction and working of equipment and
techniques.
