               OBJECTIVES:
                     To  acquire  knowledge  on  the  basics  of  Architectural  design  -  introduction  to  basic  elements,
                       principles of design, integration of function and aesthetics.
                     To know site planning, conduct site surveys, site analysis, to know layout regulations and layout
                       design.
                     To differentiate various building forms, apply anthropometry and space standards, to know building
                       rules and regulations and its integration into building design
                     To understand the climate so as to evolve an environmental responsive design of buildings.
                     To know town planning, its concepts & processes, standards, zoning regulations, urban design and
                       principles of landscape design.

               UNIT I ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN                                                                                   8
               Architectural Design – an analysis – integration of function and aesthetics – Introduction to basic elements
               and principles of design.

               UNIT II        SITE PLANNING                                                                                           9
               Surveys – Site analysis – Development Control – Layout regulations- Layout design concepts.

               UNIT III       BUILDING TYPES                                                                                            12
               Residential, institutional, commercial and Industrial – Application of anthropometry and space standards-
               Inter relationships of functions – Safety standards – Building rules and regulations – Integration of building
               services – Interior design

               UNIT IV        CLIMATE AND ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIVE DESIGN                                    8
               Man  and  environment  interaction-  Factors  that  determine  climate  –  Characteristics  of  climate  types  –
               Design for various climate types – Passive and active energy controls – Green building concept.

               UNIT V         TOWN PLANNING                                                                                           8
               Planning  – Definition, concepts and processes- Urban planning  standards and zoning  regulations- Urban
               renewal – Conservation – Principles of Landscape design.

               OUTCOMES:
               Upon completion of this course, the students can be able to
