Big Tree Contest
The Lorain Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) is
excited to announce the sixth annual Lorain County Big Tree
Contest! This voluntary contest promotes the beauty and ben-
efits provided by our county’s biggest and oldest trees. This
year our featured tree species is the Black Walnut (Juglans Nig-

Raptor Center Lunch Time - Tuesdays in June, Wednes-
days in July, Thursdays in August, from 11-11:30 a.m. Watch as
the Raptor Center resident raptors participate in their own daily
healthcare during a training session working with the Naturalist
staff.
2020 Spending by the Numbers at the Raptor Center: $1900
in vet visits; $2,500 in medications; $2,000 on supplies and day
to day materials; $2,000 on food; for a total of $8,400.
These necessary purchases were made possible through ALL ABOVE GROUND, IN-GROUND AND
their Adopt-A-Raptor program and other generous donations.
Day to day operations at the Raptor Center have been made

she hatched as a healthy, normal baby bird, Luna did not learn
from her parents how to be a wild bird and instead imprinted
on her human caretakers. Luna was brought to Ohio from West Full Service Department for
Virginia as a wildlife program ambassador.
