EIGHT IS ENOUGH
OR IS IT?
D o you have a friend with
a popular name? If so,
you know the annoying
feeling you get when
calling out to your friend
and having several heads
turn in your direction and yelling
“Yeah?”.
With a student body of about five
hundred you would think that duplicate
names would not occur more than just a
few times. Jennifer and Jonathan (or
some variation thereof) are the grand
exceptions. With ten Jennifers and fifteen
Jonathans this situation happens more
than you would think. Jonathan Yoder
states that one of the best ways to get the
attention of one of the “Jon’s” is to use
m s
characteristic nicknames. Last year Jon
was called “Yoder” now it has been
shortened to “Yode.”
The top five student names are: Robert
(9), David, Jason, and Amy/Aimee (8),
and Kim/Kym and Dan/Daniel (7). The
staff is also included in the confusion by
Eight “ Jens” on campus is confusing having three Phils, three Mikes, two
enough — imagine living together!
Jennifers Brewer and Bevan live in Karens and two Debbies.
the same unit; Cozart and Brewer and
Jennifer Nightingale are close friends.
