The season opened at Tol-
man, but this happy period was
clouded as the mermen lost 42-
41. This was followed by a loss
to the huge Loomis squad. The
Quakers were defeated soundly
100-63.
Navy Prep was the Mermen’s
first real home meet in years.
The Quaker won at the Brown
pool 46-34. In the last two meets
of the season, the Quakers
defeated St. George’s 42-41, and
swamped Worcester 58-23.
Coaches Cheryl Kapec and
Beth Taylor shared the job of
presiding over the early morning
practices. Though there was the
satisfaction of a winning season,
those intrepid few who braved
the icy early morning hours had
other satisfaction as well; that of
accepting a challenge, overcom
ing obstacles, and emerging
more experienced than when the
season began. Every member of
the team now knows the true
meaning of a successful season.
