communications in such situations. An extra language is becoming more of a necessity in
the the work-place as the increase in diversity demands.
In addition, the learning of a new language often is accompanied by exposure to new
cultures and therefore fuels the curiosity to expand one’s own perspective. Familiarization
breeds contentment; therefore, the more familiar we become with other cultures, the more
accepting and embracing we will be of them.
Knowing the importance of languages in today’s interconnected world, I encourage
those interested to take up learning a new language and reaping the benefits of doing so.
Whether one’s purpose is to intrinsically gratify oneself, to increase one’s power of
communication, or simply to order food at McDonald’s learning a foreign language is a
worthy and useful project in acheiving one’s goals.
