The Alpha Chi Induction was a formal cer
emony held in the presence of the induct
ees' peers. Each inductee was given a white
candle, symbolizing learning. During the
ceremony, they lit their candles from the gold
candle that represented knowledge. More
than recognizing good grades, Alpha Chi
honors the love of learn
ing. The members signed a
book, promising to uphold
the principles of the society:
the pursuit of truth and the
practice of character by
which victory is obtained.

The Alpha Chi induction ceremony was over, but the member's
responsibilities were not. While working to maintain their grade point
averages, the Alpha Chi members provided tutoring for anyone needing
help in several academic areas. Naomi Ingram said, "[Tutoring] challenges
me to explain clearly what I know, and it's so rewarding to see the light go
on. It does take time, but it's worth it."
Helping others was one of the main goals of Alpha Chi, an organization
specifically focused on serving academically. Amy Feeser said, "It's a great
opportunity to serve others with the gifts God gave us." Luke 12:48 states,
"...For unto whomso
ever much is given,
of him shall much be
required".
Amanda Russell
helped a student in her
history class. She said,
"We work one-on-one,
and it is very produc
tive. It is very encouraging to tutor people and then see them succeed
academically."The members of Alpha Chi have been found to be faithful
stewards of the gifts God has given them. They honor God not only by do
ing their best, but also by serving others.
