Dorm life was a memorable experience. As one roamed
the halls, he could find students doing homework, playing video
games, taking a nap, orconversing with friends. Living in the same
quarters with one's peers built comradery and formed friendship
that can last a lifetime.
Dorm devotions were the most important aspect of dorm
life. A devotion leader (DL) had two or three rooms that he was to
lead spiritually, leading group devotions and mentoring the new
residents. Three nights each week the group met for devotions.
On the other nights, a DL would take time to meet one-on-one
with a young man in his group to try to help him with whatever
he was going through. These meetings helped to build a positive
relationship between the DL and the individual members of his
group. Aaron Wilson said, "There is nothing greater in life than to
have the opportunity to make an impact on another. As a mentor,
I have the opportunity to do this every day."
Recreational time was another important aspect of dorm life.
Many students played video games during their free time. Video
game tournaments provided the opportunity for broader compe
tition. During stressful times, taking time to "kick back" and relax
was necessary. Whether a student relaxed or studied, dorm life Sitting back and relaxing,
