"...if ye then be risen with Christ,
seek those things which are above."
Colossians 3:1
As Christian students in a secular world, we tend
to lose sight of those things which are eternal and often
seek those things which are external. We get caught up
in what society dictates as being popular and trendy and
forget that we as Christians have a higher calling—to
glorify God in all we do and to seek Him above all. God
does not ask us to know what football team is ranked
highest, which car is the fastest, or how to earn the most
money. He simply asks us to know Him. He wants us as
His sanctified children to seek to worship Him with our
lives and with our hearts. The One who gave everything
for us desires that we, for once, endeavor to lay aside ev
erything for Him. In spite of all He does for us, we still
manage to grieve Him with our worship of things that
hold no value. How often God must turn His face away
from us in disappointment as once again we neglect
to bring Him the glory He deserves. Our goal should
be to please Him by seeking those things which are
above—those things which will matter forever.
