In August, Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte (left) and three other
swimmers claimed that they were held up in a Rio gas station. Police
later found video evidence proving that they had intentionally
vandalized the gas station bathroom while drunk, and were not
actually robbed. Lochte came forw ard and confessed that he had
exaggerated the story. As a result Lochte was suspended from all
swimming competitions until July 2017, with his accomplices receiving
four months.
une 12, 29 year-old security guard O m ar M ateen opened
at Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, killing 4 9
and wounding 53. He was shot and killed by O rlando
after a three and a half hour stand off. It was also the
iest terror attack in the U.S. since 9/11.
In 2014, the city of Flint, Michigan
switched their source of drinking water to
the cost effective Flint River. The river,
however, was contaminated and the
w ater tested positive for dangerous levels
of lead and other toxicities. A fter much
help, the crisis in Flint is starting to look
