involved after former coach, Mr. O’Reilly, left the high
school. “ I’ve been the Boy’s Track coach for about ten
years now,” Farr explains. “Cross Country is like the
gateway to Track, and it made perfect sense that Mr.
Smith would ask me to coach, seeing how related the two
sports are.” “We had so many new people with talent,”
three year Cross Country veteran, Spencer Gause divulges.
“They came in and kicked butt. They all just got
progressively better throughout the season.” What is
unique about this transition season, compared to years
past, is the fact that the majority of the team is composed
of underclassmen.
The breakout of the season, without a doubt, was
freshman Noble Valerio-Boster, who placed second at
Districts and went to State. “ I’ve loved running all my life,
so it just seemed like a good fit for me,” Valerio-Boster
reveals what draws him to Cross Country. “When you’re
running, all your troubles go away. Running just makes
me feel so free, and you’re going so fast that all you can
do is watch the things you pass by. There’s nothing else
like it for me.” With all of the new Freshman talent, Coach
Farr is excited to see his runners grow and lead the team
for years to come.
