After months of hard work, Merritts Hall was finally finished. The newly completed
addition to the men's dorm had its official dedication on February 2, 1994. Of those in
attendance were Congressman Mike Bilirakis, Vice-Mayor Art Deegan of Clearwater,
Mr. Steve Jefferies representing the Clearwater Chamber of Congress, and our own
Board members. Mr. Paul Merritts was not in town because he felt that his presence
was needed in a church in North Carolina. Dr. Youstra said that Rev. Merritts felt that
this it was much too much fuss for a building in his honor.
