FACING THE
CHALLENGE
C hallenges and how one deals with them help
make the man. Every student faces
problems. They prepare one for “ real life.”
People look for a source of leadership in
those peers who seem to handle well what
life throws their way. Employers look for
employees who can face a challenge and work
through it. College leaders become tomorrow’s
leaders.
Among the different types of student leadership,
two stand out — Class Officers and the Student
Senate. Although these two groups have different
responsibilities, they do share a similar goal — to
create a spirit of oneness among the college family.
The class officers fulfill their obligations to their
respective classes by sponsoring a class activity each
year. Although prepared especially for their class, all
students are invited. They also meet and plan special
programs and skits for the class meetings. The junior
class officers spend a great deal of time planning and
leading their class in the preparation of the junior-
senior banquet in the spring.
The Student Senate is comprised of the president
and vice-president of all the classes, Greek
organizations, and other clubs on campus. This is an
opportunity for all those in a leadership position to
deal with concerns raised by the student body.
