Roland Martinez,
a veteran usher,
combines his
student teaching
responsibilities
with ushering for
faculty and student
recitals.
Under the authority of Dr. Youstra, a select group of
gentlemen are responsible for doing whatever is
deemed necessary to help all events run decently and
in order. These young men are the ushers. Being
responsible for the chapel services which are held
Monday through Thursday in our Gospel Center
Memorial Chapel is just one of their duties. They also
usher other programs held on campus such as: Fine
Arts recitals, Campus Forums, special chapel
programs, and drama productions. Two of the biggest
events held on campus for which they are reponsible
are baccalaureate and commencement.
Gio Llerena and Roland Martinez are in charge of
the monthly Fine Arts programs. Felix Fernandez,
Brad Bickley, Casey Southerland, Greg Ulerena, and
Mike Ramsey assist in our. daily chapel services and
special events. The assistant'head usher, Aaron Carr,
helps coordinate the programs when the head usher,
Mike Towler, is taking care of other responsibilities.
Senior Roland Martinez said “ Being an usher has
been a great experience. It has given me an
opportunity to take part in the organization of many
Fine Arts events.”
These “tough
guys” take a few
minutes before
chapel to entertain
the photographer.
Even though they
enjoy goofing off.
these ushers take
their jobs very
seriously.
