Making A Smooth
TRANSITION
FRESHMAN! Whal is a freshman? A freshman is
more than just a first-year student. The word is
defined as “ a beginner or a novice.” A freshman
has a new beginning, a fresh start, and an
opportunity to explore the uncharted territories
of one’s life.
Going to college is often a scary experience.
There are new people, new policies, and new
pressures. As the newcomer, those around you
can seem ominous and will either befriend you or
just be indifferent. But that is not how things are
here. As soon as you arrive on campus, you have
“ friends” waiting to greet you — from R.A’s, to
Deans, and to roommates. They are here to help,
and they most assuredly do.
The Lord has led many students here through
many different circumstances. Allycia Speights, a
biology major said, “ CCC has been the best
decision I’ve made. I did a lot of praying before I
came.” Allycia knew a couple of students from
the College, and she even met Dr. Munro at one
of our basketball team’s away games. She
thought Dr. Munro was one of the nicest men
she ever met.
Many times, the freshman year is very
overwhelming and frightening. Every
administrator, faculty and staff member, and
upperclassmen attempt to make freshmen feel
welcome and the transition to college life much
easier. -Kevin Me Evoy
