seems
that as
the years
go by, the
Labuda Cen
ter for the Per
form i n g Arts
keeps growing with
amazing progress. Be
fore each perform
ance, both faculty mem
bers and students put in
long hard hours to make
each show the best ever.
Although the rehearsals are
numerous and tiring, the final pro
ducts are very much worth the time
and effort of all those people involved.
Our season began with the production of
You C a n t Take It W ith You. With this, we
saw the last performance of Mr. William Cal
lahan who, after eighteen years, will be retiring
from the Theatre Department. The play Am adeus
marked our 100th production. We were honored to
have an alumni of Allentown College, Dennis
McLernon, contribute his talents to this play in the role
of Antonio Salieri. In February, the department pro
duced, with intense clarity, the tragic story of the Greek
tragedy, O edipus Rex. Our season ended with The Boyfriend.
This musical comedy was very entertaining.
The Allentown College Theatre Dancers were fortunate to partici
pate in many activities this year. In October, they hosted the Fes
tival o f Dance which included performances by eight other colleges
from Delaware and Lehigh Valley.
The students presented two informal performances, Dance A La C arte an
Dance Potpourri at the end of each semester. Dancers also participated in
several liturgies including Thanksgiving Mass, Christmas Mass and Patron’s
Day Mass.
The highlight of our year was the production of our formal concert, C’est D anse in
March. Both the faculty and the students contributed choreography to produce the
variety of dance the audience experienced.
This year also marked the inception of the Dance Department’s first touring company,
Le Tour de D anse. Le Tour de D anse traveled to local junior and senior high schools to
present a forty-five minute lecture/deinonstration on dance. They were well received and will
continue to bring dance to high school students next year.
