In 1935, Pine Crest School was established in three rooms in the old
Court House on Andrews Avenue. Originally, it was designed as a tutoring
school for visiting pupils from the North. However, an increasing number of
local students enrolled to take advantage of its individual tvpe of instruction
and the opportunity of strong preparation for college.
Fourteen years ago, the larger attendance necessitated the move to our
present location, and the school has grown so that it has been necessary to add
modern classrooms and dormitory space from year to year.
Pine Crest is now recognized as one of the leading preparatory schools in
the South, having received State and Southern Association accreditation. Its
large staff is composed of fully certified teachers, each a specialist in his
own department.
