rewards successes
■Angie Jespersen on Senior Awards Night:
"I won the (Omaha World-Herald) Key Staffer award for journalism
O) and that means that, I was, What Mrs. Rice? Yeah, Superwoman. I
just stuck with journalism for four years. I was surprised to receive
the award; it was a great honor and it was just for all the time and
work I put into the yearbook . . . I like journalism; 1 like what I do.
Also, I kind of felt responsible for it because there are not that many
people in it. Maybe if I wouldn't have stayed in it we wouldn't have
had a yearbook. I really like it . . . This year, I'm the head editor of
the yearbook; I also am the editor of the people section and senior
section. I did a lot of stuff, wrote copy, indexed, got the pictures
together, and right now I'm fixing mistakes getting everything ready
to turn in ... We had to go to a journalism camp during the summer,
and it was really beneficial for us to get started. If we hadn't gone, we
would have been way behind . .. I felt this year was the best year,
because we're not as far behind as we usually are. It's going to turn
out pretty good ... It's very rewarding work. It makes me feel good
when you get a yearbook done, then it comes back looking really
good, and you know you were a part of it. Really it's not hard, it's fun.
We always have fun; it's not all hard work."
