Early on the Saturday morning of April 19th, prom decorating
began at the Stockyards Ballroom on 27th and L Streets. Junior
and senior parents and students covered the entire ceiling of the
ballroom with balloons of silver, pale blue and royal blue. A
crepe paper arch with balloon clusters welcomed prom goers.
The dance started at 8 o'clock and lasted until midnight. For
most girls prom began at about noon. Flowers had to be picked
up, hair appointments had to be kept, nails had to be done,
makeup and dressing time were all required to be ready for the
photo shoots with friends and family.
The night may have started out rushed for some, but the dance
proved to be a blast. Over 200 tickets were sold for prom and
over 300 were sold for post prom. "Prom was really cool!" junior
Ryan Overfield said. His favorite part of Prom was the decora
tions.
Post Prom was a huge success too. It started at 12:30 a.m. and
lasted until four. Parents were there to help run booths, serve
food and give out prizes. There was lots of free food and tons of
activities. Students got chances to get into the boxing ring and
duke it out with their teachers. They also could have tried their
luck at the casino tables or sang Karaoke.
