“Black is such a happy color,” said Morticia Addams, played by senior
Jade Adler. A humorous take on a creepy classic, The Addams Family
introduced itself as a dark romantic comedy. The plot of the show told the
love story of dark and twisted Wednesday Addams, played by sophomore
Katelyn Moenning, and sunny straight-laced Lucas Beineke. played by
junior Robbie McEvoy. The play recounted the trials of their love and how
they had to meet each other's family. The story is filled with twist and
turns.
Wackiness ensues when Uncle Fester, played by junior Jacob Alberico,
tried to intervene and help fix both families’ relationships while he
pursued his own love story with the moon. Alberico's performance
brought the comedy and strangeness of The Addams Family alive. His
dedication to the show went above and beyond. After all he shaved his
head for his part in the play and had to wear two fat suits throughout the
performance.
When asked how she felt about the performance, Jade Adler had this to
say, "Oh my god, that was my favorite show that I've ever done. It was so
much fun." The shows' fantastic performance captivated audiences of all
ages. The music, the actors, and the scenery matched the musical
perfectly. Michael O'Brien, who played Gomez Addams, had this to say:
“I felt that it was very successful. It was a hit and very fun.” When
questioned about the show, he exclaimed with much enthusiasm, “I would
do it again in a heartbeat. I felt it was too brief and wish it went on
longer.” The Addams Family fitted the Halloween season.
