Another World

           Some Allentown College
        students are not just typical
        teenagers who’ve just graduated
        high school. Some must make
large sacrifices in many areas of
their lives to attend school. There
        are others who must overcome
         obstacles and physical barriers
         which would usually prevent them
from learning at a college in
         stitution.
Because of the flatness of the
campus, and only one or two
         story buildings, our campus is
         wheelchair accessible. The com
         pactness of our buildings makes
         attending class much easier,
since the majority of classes are
         in DeSales Hall. We’ve graduated
         severely handicapped students,
who do strive to know, despite
         their physical disability.
            Dr. Don Gibbons, a psychology
         professor, also accommodates
for handicapped, not only on our
         campus, but nationwide, through
         his original Handicapped In
troductions, or HI. He developed a
         computerized dating service,
         especially for the disabled right
here on this campus. Though not
all of our eligible students utilize
HI, AC is proud to know that Dr.
Gibbons has created a useful ser
vice, the first of its kind.
