Learning to Adapt
The field of education provides many different ex
periences and opportunities for those involved.
One of the greatest experiences of education ma
jors is participating in student practicums
and internships. These times of instruc
tion are both eye-opening and enjoyable
for students. Katie Wahlberg interned at

teaching my twenty second graders! My
internship has not just been about me
teaching them. They have taught me to
remember to look at the little things in life
??
and to take joy in them.
Melissa Rettinhouse has taught her
student practicum at Rio Vista Elemen
tary School. Since she is a special educa
tion major, she has worked with a small
class of four students. “It is awesome to
take all the book knowledge I have learned
and finally apply and expand it in the class-
J room with the students with whom I have
absolutely fallen in love with," Melissa said.
Many times, practicums and internships yield
special opportunities for students. Summer ll J p MgU jj i jr 4 M A A M

them in my practicum. However, the first week of
practicum, my teacher gave me the project of work
ing with a kindergarten girl from Italy who spoke
very little English. I am so thankful for this oppor
tunity and for the training I received from CCC to
help ESOL students.”
