Vaulting to new heights Is
Freshman Steve Craig. Craig
lettered this season participating
in the pole vault. He placed 5th
at Metro and qualified to go to
Nationals held in Baton Rouge,
Louisiana, for his age group. He
described the season by saying.
“I think I improved a lot.”
Soaring over the sand is Sopho
more Shane Lowry competing in
the long jump. Lowry, a letter
winner in track and football, was
part of the 400 meter relay team
which broke the school record.
Weichel, Gamble and Tono Wer
were the other members of the
relay team.
Firing down the lane is Senior
Mark Weichel. Weichel set a
school record in the 200 meter
dash with a time of :22.16 and
was a member of the record
setting team in the 400 meter
relay with a :44.37 time. Weichel
oucs planned to play collegiate
football at South Dakota State.
Clearing the hurdle is Senior
Cody Gamble. Gamble set a
school record in the 300 I
Hurdles with a time of :39.42.
Gamble, a three-year letter
winner in track and football
planned to play collegiate
football at Chadron State.
Finishing strong is Junior Mitsu
Niiya. Niiya was a varsity track
member for three years and
letter winner his sophomore and
junior seasons. The Rams
finished first as a team at the
Kearney Invite, 2nd at Wayne
State, Bellevue and Bryan
Invitationals and a 2nd place
showing at Metro along with an
outright title at Districts.
