The New Student
Center Is a
Welcomed Addition
On April 23, 1997, the College officially
opened its new student center Just in time
for the student body to enjoy it before
school ended. Tiled floors, cozy booths,
spinning bar stools and a large screen
television in the Centre Court Cafe set the
atmosphere for the student hangout. Popu
lar items on the cafe's menu were
cappucinos and homemade milk shakes.
Jeanna Horman said, "I really enjoyed the
cafe. It was a good place to socialize, and
it was a good alternative to Cathcart."
Some changes are in store for the cafe,
however. Alterations to the student center
include more booths and a few new items
on the menu, such as flavored sodas and
milk shakes.
Having mastered the art of cappucino
making, Christina Ericson converses
with her customers. She enjoys work
ing at the cafe because "it's conve
nient. Everyone hangs out there, and
it's nice to see my friends while I
work," she said.
A crowd like this one is not an un
common sight in Centre Court day or
night. Senior Dan Simpson said, "The
atmosphere is casual and all-colle
giate. For a man who loves coffee in
the morning, the cafe was a sweet ad
dition to our campus."
