      273 students rate their lunch  room favorites

     loss  because  the  vending  machines  were
     put  in.  The  profits  from  the  machines,
     which  offer  such  things  as  M&M's,  cup­
     cakes,  and  Dorito's,  go  to  various  school
     funds,  not the school  food service.
          In the survey, students said they either
     really liked school food orthey really hated
     it.  Most students said they ate school  food
     every day, whi le some students gave the fol -
     lowing excuses for not eating lunch:
        "I  use my lunch  money for gas."
        "I eat when  I get home,  instead."
       "I'm getting really fat— I can't eat lunch!"
        School  makes me lose  my appetite."
        While most students disagreed on what
     their favorite cafeteria food was, there was
     one  subject  to  which  they  were  almost
