It seems the Varsity Cheerleaders have had a busy season. They
started out the season by traveling to a summer camp in Okoboji which is
#
sponsored by NCA. They did well at this camp and brought home the Top ■g
Team award. Senior Heather Wilke was selected as a Super Star by the camp
f
instructor. The squad decided to audition for a National Competition in
Nashville, TN and prepared their routine which they tried out at the first -jlS:
annual River Cities Conference Cheerleading and Pom Squad Competition in
P
August and won first on their level. They also performed at the Metro Spirit
P
Spectacular and came in second in their division. In December the squad was
off to Nashville. They made it to the finals and brought home the second place •iie)
trophy. Junior Sarah Studts had this to comment:
On the season:
Studts: “We had a pretty good season. We went to nationals and got second
place. We placed in every competiton we performed at.”
