H class act


                                                                                              ' T  here’s  a  first  time  for  everything,
                                                                                               ^   and  this  was  the  first  year  Ralston
                                                                                              had  ever  done  a  Shakespearean  play.
                                                                                              “Midsummer  Night’s  Dream”  was  also
                                                                                              the  only  play  put  on  solely  by  play
                                                                                              production  people.  But  that  wasn’t  the
                                                                                              only  thing  Ralston  tried  for  the  first
                                                                                              time:  this  year  there  was  a  play  for
                                                                                              freshman  and  sophomores  only.
                                                                                                “Bad  Day  At  Grimy  Gulch,”  the
                                                                                              freshman  and  sophomore  play,  showed
                                                                                              a  typical  day  in  an  old  western  town.  It
                                                                                              had  the  typical  “good  guy”  and  “bad
                                                                                              guy,”  and  the  lady  in  the  middle  of  the
                                                                                              two.
                                                                                                Though  “Midsummer”  was  a
                                                                                              Shakespearean  play,  the  audience
                                                                                             found  it  highly  accessible  and
                                                                                             entertaining.  Shakespeare  wrote  the
                                                                                             play  to  poke  fun  at  the  wedding
                                                                                             customs  of  the  mid-fifteenth  century.
                                                                                                Florescent  make-up  and  florescent
                                                                                             lights  were  used  to  give  the  stage  a
                                                                                             special  glow.  The  costumes  were
                                                                                             designed  by  Laura  Stodola  and  the
                                                                                             lighting  design  was  done  by  Tracy
                                                                                             Johnson.


                                                                                             Inadvertently  put  under  Puck’s  spell,  Demetrius  (junior  Rob  Ek)
                                                                                             suprises  everyone  with  his  sudden  attraction  for  Helena  (senior
                                                                                             Mary  Kay  Gilreath)
                                                                                             Reassuring  his  wife  of  his  affection  for  her.  King  Oberon
                                                                                             (senior  Ron  LaRosa)  attempts  to  subdue  the  sensual  Queen
                                                                                             Titania  (junior  Susan  Magisana)
