Although there have been many delays in tennis prac
tice due to the early spring showers we have experienced
this year, the team seems to have developed into a well-
balanced outfit already. All doubt about the high ranking
of the team has definitely been erased, and now we are
looking forward to a very successful season.
The outcome of the match with the Bridgewater
State Teachers College demonstrated with what enthu
siasm the boys are working toward a record-breaking string
of victories. Captain Scott, although playing with his
usual skill, went down ro our only defeat at the hands of
Nugent, after extending this Fall River champion to three
sets. After having won the first set by the score of 6-4, Scott lost the two follow
ing by the close margin of 4-6, 1-6. The other veterans of last year’s team came
through with easy victories, Ferris winning his match to the tune of 6-3, 10-8,
and Fales and Gonzales combining to win their doubles by the impressive score
of 6-2, 6-3. Eberle, Murdock, and Wilcox furnished evidence of the wealth of
the new material by their clear-cut triumphs.
If these boys exhibit in the future the high degree of skill and zeal which
they displayed in this first meet, we may well expect a season worthy of any
Moses Brown team.
