The Goldfields Soup Patrol Service
is a mobile food service in the
Goldfields, Western Australia,
that delivers essentials to those
in need in the rural camps and
communities.
In collaboration with the Salvation
Army, the van services around 9,000
residents who are either homeless,
at risk of homelessness, socially
disadvantaged or on low incomes.
Minnovare, along with a group
of other local organisations, is
sponsoring the initiative to ensure
it can continue running. The
sponsorships will help cover the run
and maintenance costs of the van, the
partial wages of the volunteers, and
the food and water supplies.
The van will be servicing the
community at the time of the annual
Diggers and Dealers conference, held
in Kalgoorlie from the August 1-3. With
the van patrolling the same area, the
conference presents an important
opportunity to raise awareness of
the disadvantaged communities that
reside nearby.
To many families and individuals in
the area who are struggling to make
ends meet, a cup of soup and a
packet of bread is warmly welcomed
when there are no other nutritious
food services available. As part of
an ongoing commitment to its ESG
programme, Minnovare looks forward
to supporting the local Goldfields
