AUSTRALIAN GOLD REVIEW
A gutsy target
areas where we already had high-grade gold in RC drilling,” he
said. “We’re now turning that around in a north-south direction
to do this 3D survey along the strike of Mulga Bill, which will give
us a 3D model of where the sulphide is. We can then target that
with further RC drilling.
“The cross sections that we’ve put out [in March] indicate there’s
quite good depth potential, which we had privately anticipated
because that relates back to our interpretation of Mulga Bill
being an intrusive-related system.”
Side Well sits adjacent to Meekatharra, sharing a neighbourhood
with current and past gold deposits such as Bluebird, Yalgoginda
(824,000oz), Paddy’s Flat (1.33 moz), Meeka North (41,000oz)
and Andy Well (505,000oz).
Side Well has seen minimal exploration, despite being owned
in conjunction with Andy Well and changing ownership several
times.
“Doray Minerals got involved [in 2009]…but didn’t do too much
work at Side Well,” Paterson said. “They did a little bit of RC
drilling at Mulga Bill which highlighted the potential to us but
they ended up dropping it. Nobody has given [Side Well] its full
attention for the last 30 years.”
Paterson’s personal history with Scott Wilson of Zebina Minerals
helped strike up a JV and the rest is history.
