HITEC Power Protection has over 50 years experience manufacturing
rotary power protection systems with our rotating filter concept (the Induction Coupling
combination of a synchronous alternator and reactor) and kinetic energy Standard HITEC DRUPS Ratings from 500 kVA to 2200 kVA
store. Today we manufacture single module systems rated up to 3,000
kVA of full No-Break power from our new QPS range. DRUPS modules HITEC “QPS” Range up to 3000 kVA
can be configured to a variety of electrical systems, for instance to meet
the Uptime Institute’s Tier III or IV classification. Data Centre Installations

Why Use HITEC “Dynamic Rotary UPS” Systems

Battery Free Solution – No reinvestment every 4-7 years on new batteries,
no need for a dedicated climate controlled battery room, reduced floor
space, no costly battery disposal, more environmentally friendly.

DRUPS vs Static UPS + Standby Generator – DRUPS eliminates the
need for harmonic filtering, PFC, more switchgear and cabling. Fewer
components thus inherently more reliable design, higher MTBF and
available figures, lower overall installation and commissioning costs,
smaller overall dimensions and floor space requirements, easier to
operate and maintain.

Power Conditioning Without Power Electronics – DRUPS provides
long technical lifetime compared to systems with power electronics (over
25 years compared to 10-15 years) no double energy conversions hence
higher efficiency, no generation of harmonic currents / voltages.

Reactor + Generator = Active Filter – DRUPS provides high short circuit
output capacity. The system does not need to go to by-pass (use the utility)
to clear an output fault, reactive output power supplied by alternator means
near unity power factor from utility, dips and spikes on the utility voltage
are blocked, compensation of prolonged deviations of the utility voltage,
filters utility borne harmonic voltages and load borne harmonic currents.

Low Total Cost of Ownership – Taken together all these factors leads
to a lower TCO compared to that of an entire standby diesel genset, static
UPS, battery, air conditioning, PFC, active harmonic filtering system etc.

Data Centre Solutions

HITEC’s “Dynamic Rotary UPS” (DRUPS) system was the first UPS to
gain Uptime Institute ‘Tier’ certification at a data centre application within
UK, Europe & EMEA. HITEC’s Data Centre Continuous (HDCC) ratings
are specific for operating in the Uptime Institute’s Tier III & IV applications.

Low Voltage (LV) & Medium Voltage (MV) Systems

Low voltage systems are an effective means of connecting modules together
for redundancy. HITEC offers a range of LV solutions such as parallel
redundant, isolated redundant, distributed redundant and isolated parallel.

Isolated parallel configuration allows connection of multiple DRUPS
modules at LV. It uses an isolating choke to connect each DRUPS module
onto a common bus (IP ring). This allows paralleling for redundancy but
“isolates” each DRUPS from one another under fault conditions. HITEC
uses the “ERACS” modelling software to size the IP chokes.

However, low voltage systems may not be the most cost effective means,
as medium voltage systems (11KV) from HITEC allow more modules to
be connected in parallel, with lower fault currents and smaller cables, so
offering a more cost effective installation for substantial sites with high
loads or that cover a large area.

Active Redundancy Control –
Continuous Support of IT & Cooling

HITEC’s Active Redundancy Control makes full use of the “spare”
capacity of a redundant module to provide a “No-Break” electrical supply
to the cooling load from the DRUPS system, while in no way
compromising the security of the IT loads.
