                1.2     Understanding Graphs, Charts, Tables, Manuals, Maps and Brochures


                1  There are various types of graphs, for example, line graphs, bar graphs and pie charts.
                2  When interpreting graphs, charts or tables:
                  (a)  note the heading and sub-heading first;
                  (b)  then look at the vertical scale which normally represents the values or units of an item;
                  (c)  next check the horizontal scale which normally represents the months or years;
                  (d)  then study the data provided and look at the question asked.

                3  In manuals, you may be tested on the understanding of the instructions given.
                4  In maps or diagrams, you may be tested on the understanding of the location of a certain place,
                  a process or a procedure.
