would like to congratulate Tan Sri Dr. Ali Hamsa, Chief Secretary to
the Government of Malaysia on the publication of “Humanising the
I Public Service: A Compilation of Speeches by the Chief Secretary to
the Government”.

This book contains twenty nine of his speeches delivered to audiences
from both the public and private sectors, including at the international
fora between 2012 and 2016. Touching on various topics relevant to the
public service in general, this compilation of speeches serves to enlighten
the audience on the various Government initiatives that have been
undertaken to enhance the public service delivery system, the role of
civil servants in nation building, as well as the efforts initiated to develop
Malaysia towards becoming a high-income developed nation by 2020.

This book also chronicles the public service journey over the past three
years, and provides a comprehensive overview of the different public
policies that have been introduced to transform the public service, and
their success stories.

“Humanising the Public Service: A Compilation of Speeches by the Chief
Secretary to the Government” is a useful reference on Malaysia’s public
sector transformation story.
