1. Structuring aids show where we are in the presentation, can indicate what
has been done, what will follow, introduce a new idea, point at a figure or
graph.
2. See pages 17 – 18.
3. Linking words express relationship between ideas.
4. See pages 18 – 20.
5. Style: less formal language, rhetorical questions; grammar – active voices,
personal pronouns; vocabulary – more general, less sophisticated; sentence
structure: looser.

1. The presentation delivery is influenced by the voice, visuals including
operation of the device, body language.
2. Volume (how loud), pace (how fast), pitch (how high), tone and colour
(what emotions).
3. Good visuals are visible (large enough, contrast with the background),
simple (not overloaded with information, rule of 6 x 6, 1 slide = 1 basic idea +
supportive details), clear (must fit to the context, be pointed at), varied to an
appropriate extent (changes of style not exaggerated).
4. Through the body standing position, facial expression (smiling/frowning) eye
contact (getting the feedback, establishing a link with the audience),
distance from the audience, movement if possible.
5. Cards with notes – not ideal, limit gestures; organization of visuals and
software tools – notes visible only to the speaker.

1. First, you can ask the questioner to repeat the question. If you still don´t
understand properly, you can paraphrase from key words. Always repeat the
question for the audience.
2. Acknowledge the questioner, use fillers and automatically pronounced
phrases.
3. Complimenting the person for the question as a challenge for you to find an
answer. Admitting you don´t know the answer and promise to get in touch
with the questioner later (and do it!).
