SITE CLEARING

                  Site clearing is the process
                  of removing all elements of
                  a land area that obstructs
                  the process of
                  construction. It is the first
                  step in any construction
                  project.

                  EARTHWORK

        Earthwork involves the looseninq,
        removal and handlinq of earth
        quantities in the construction
        process· Earthworks are carried
out to provide a level terraceor
        "bench", with an even,
        lonqitudinal slope, on which the
        drainaqe and cambercan be built.

The earthwork is usually the most
        costly operation in the road
        construction, oftenaccounting for
        more than half of the
        construction costs
