REQUISITES FOR OBTAINING LICENSES FOR THE OPERATION OF GIFT
SHOPS AS INDIVIDUALS AND CORPORATIONS
Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic
This regulation applies while the Modification to
Regulation 2123 on gift shops is being updated Dated
13 July 1984.
1. Address a letter to the Minister of Tourism, reques-
ting a license to operate a Gift Shop business, indica-
ting the name of same, as well as the activity which it
will be engaged in, i.e., the sale of articles of a typical
or artisanal nature and any legal merchandise principa-
lly targeting tourists, it must specify the business, the
correct address of the center of operations, the tele-
phone number or, lacking that, the personal number of
the applicant.
2. Photocopy of the electoral and identification card
(cédula). In the event they are a foreigner, photocopy
of the passport and residency, whether it be provisional
or definitive. If they do not have an identification card
(cédula), the business visa issued for such effect by
the immigration authorities will be admitted.
3. Certificate of no criminal record for the owner or
their legal representative issued by the Office of the
Prosecutor, in effect at the time of filing with Mitur.
4. Photocopy of the certificate of the Registration of
Commercial Name, issued by ONAPI, Ministry of
Industry and Commerce.
5. Photocopy of the title certificate of ownership or
contract for lease, rental or permit for use, duly no-
tarized and with the signature of the acting notary re-
cognized by the Office of the Attorney General of the
Republic.
6. File inventory of the merchandise on hand, the per-
centage of the product offered must not be less than
ninety percent (90%) of Dominican manufacture. Said
inventory must specify the amount of merchandise,
description, unit sale price, overall cost. In like manner,
the final total of the column for overall cost will be es-
tablished. The price of the merchandise must be pla-
ced in a visible place of same, in national currency.
7. Formative documents or modification, only for
corporations,
Namely:
a. Copy of the current corporate bylaws.
b. List and attendance list of the formative gene-
ral shareholders meeting or the one considering
some modification.
c. List of subscribers and statement of payment of
the shares in effect.
d. Minutes of the last shareholders meeting which
designated the current management agencies
before the Chamber of Commerce and Production
of the Dominican Republic.
e. Copy of the certificate of the Mercantile
Registration.
f. Photocopy of the National Taxpayers’ Registration
(Registro Nacional de Contribuyentes (RNC), or
tax Identification card
g. Notary annotation (Compulsa Notarial).
7A. Inspection carried out by Mitur.
8. Establish the payment for the issuance of an ope-
ration license.
9. Certification from DGII on current tax payment.
10. Banking Reference of the applicant accrediting
their economic solvency.
Nota: This Ministry reserves the right to request the
owners of Gift Shops for any documentation it deems per-
tinent for the granting of the operation permit.
