Today, ASEAN comprises ten member states: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos,
Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

ASEAN states can be characterized evolved. These platforms include ASEAN
by vast diversity of domestic political Regional Forum (ARF), ASEAN Defense
traditions, and varying levels of economic Ministers’ Meeting Plus (ADMM-Plus),
development. Mutually agreed upon and East Asia Summit (EAS) etc, which
principles of cooperation provide credence not only covered ASEAN states but also
to ASEAN as a reliable and inclusive attracted major global players, particularly
international organization upon which other the United States (US), China, the European
platforms of regional cooperation have Union (EU), Russia.
